Blue Pig Tavern

Cape May has some serious history going for it and the popular Blue Pig is part of this picture. The restaurant was actually named after a gambling parlor located in Congress Hall way back in the day (the mid 1800s). It’s a spot that stays open all year long, which is a bit unusual for most Cape May establishments. It’s also that perfect choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there are two distinct dining rooms – one with an open and airy garden feel, and the other being a cozy tavern with a large fireplace that makes a cold winter night an even better dining experience.

The food is American – pure and simple. It’s not fancy – it’s just very good as the concept here has the chef utilizing local ingredients (especially seafood) along with fresh local produce. A simple formula makes this spot happen and the Blue Pig is one of those places where the locals hang out (the sign of an outstanding restaurant. The daily Blue Plate specials keeps things interesting and one can enjoy everything from a hamburger to their classic old-fashioned meat loaf (or perhaps their all lump crab cakes with lemon beurre blanc, roasted vegetable and basmati rice.
